The Backlog status is applied to open issues or pull requests that are not likely to be addressed in the short term. This includes client suggestions, internal ideas, or stagnant PRs that haven’t been updated in three months. The backlog acts as a holding area for low-priority or long-term items.
Criteria for Moving Items to the Backlog:
- Client Suggestions: Items raised by the client that will not be addressed within the next three months.
- Internal Ideas: Proactive internal ideas or tasks that have not been approved by the client or are not feasible due to budget constraints or ongoing work.
- Stagnant PRs: Pull requests that have not been updated or discussed for at least three months.
Quarterly Review Process:
- Close Old Items:
- Any item older than six months should ideally be closed unless there is a specific reason to keep it open.
- Client-Related Items:
- For items raised by the client, either re-engage with the client to determine if the task is still relevant or close the task if it is no longer needed.
- Review Stagnant PRs:
- Stagnant PRs should be either merged, raised with the client for further discussion, or closed if they are no longer relevant.
This quarterly audit ensures the backlog remains clean and only contains relevant, actionable tasks.
